Richard “Ricky” A. Caplin is recognized as a leading entrepreneur in Northeast Florida. Mr. Caplin has helped launch and lead several organizations, including The HCI Group which was recognized by Inc. Magazine as the number #1 privately held company in Florida and #3 privately held healthcare company in the United States for 2014.
After receiving his BA and Masters from the University of Florida, Ricky embarked on a successful career as a CPA for KPMG. But with an entrepreneurial spirit, Ricky later became owner of the HCI Group.
Ricky has recently been awarded the Ernst and Young 2015 Florida Entrepreneur of the Year, 40 under 40 by the Jacksonville Business Journal and recognized by LA County for his civil service.
When not submerged in his business ventures, Mr. Caplin’s passion for charity and public service has led to contributions of time and knowledge to various political and charitable organizations throughout North Florida. He has served as founder and Chairman of Guys with Ties Philanthropy, as well as various political roles, including co-chairman for several statewide and national campaigns. Additionally, he has contributed to numerous other organizations, including serving on the Gator Bowl Committee, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Bowl for Kid’s Sake, Big Brothers Big Sisters. Ricky graduated with bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Florida.
