Senior Vice President, General Counsel

Juan leads all HCI corporate legal activities, including government and commercial contracts, business transactions, and legal and regulatory compliance matters. He also supports international business development with IT consulting firms, software vendors, and other strategic partners, to enhance the company’s go-to market approach and service offerings.  Juan also serves as the President and co-founder of HCI’s affiliated business, Providence Technology Solutions, a firm focused on human capital management and other technology consulting services outside of healthcare.  Juan is licensed to practice law in the States of North Carolina and Florida.

In his prior experience, Juan served as General Counsel for a real estate services company, and before that as Corporate Counsel for BAE Systems’ law enforcement products division based in Jacksonville. Juan has also worked with CSX Corporation, where he was Corporate Counsel focusing on corporate governance and securities matters, and served as a board member for the company’s Political Action Committee. 

Juan graduated in 2003 from the University of Florida College of Law, magna cum laude and Order of the Coif. During law school, he served as Editor-in-Chief and Managing Editor for the Florida Law Review and, among various honors, was inducted into Florida Blue Key. Prior to that, Juan earned his Series 7 securities license and worked with Merrill Lynch.

In his over ten years residing in the Jacksonville area, Juan has proven to be an active member of the Jacksonville civic community, having served on numerous boards for business and non-profit groups, including the Jacksonville Regional Chamber of Commerce and Epping Forest Yacht Club.  Juan is a graduate of the Leadership Jacksonville class of 2008.  He has been recognized as one of Jacksonville Magazine’s most influential people and a member of the Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 class of 2014. Juan currently serves as Vice-Chair of the Board of Governors for the College of Human Sciences at Florida State University, and is on the board of Jacksonville’s Museum of Science & History.
